"What I thought I knew"
Created by visual artist A series of photos captured on various iPhone models from 2014 and 2021, with original illustration. Inspired by my entire life experience thus far. I was born in Chicago, raised in Stateway housing projects til i was 6. I still remember my phone number, the walk to Raymond elementary and the elevator, and those 9 flights of stairs we'd have to walk in the dark, but my mother kept a flashlight in her purse. It taught me preparation. I've always been fascinated by people often conflicted with my fear of them and my anxiety of being seen. Maybe it's all the harm i'm unpacking. But I see everything. I hear it all. And I love people when they are just existing. On their way to and from. Now through a series of drops, I'm hoping to express my recognition. Through photos, videos and illustrations, my best and safest place to be is in the middle of it all, unnoticed. A wallflower.
